Purpose of the grant:
To provide pro bono legal services to homeless persons in Washington, DC and to advocate around policy issues that contribute to homelessness.
Impact:
The Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless is committed to making justice a reality everyone. Since its founding in 1986 by the D.C. Bar Ad Hoc Committee on the Homeless, it has tried to meet the legal needs of children, women and men who are homeless or at–risk of becoming so, assuring access to a system too often inaccessible to those unable to pay.
Mission:
Service and Solutions. Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless dedicates itself to providing quality, free legal services to its clients. Although the Legal Clinic staff is small, a network of more than 250 volunteers from the District's legal community enables the nonprofit to handle well over 1,000 client cases each year.
