Purpose of the grant:
To provide support to increase health care access for the medically underserved in Washington, DC.
Impact:
The District of Columbia Primary Care Association (DCPCA) is a health action organization serving DC's medically vulnerable residents. Members include safety net medical providers, health care and community organizations, health professionals and individuals.
DCPCA is home to two Health Reform Committees that work on improving health care financing in the District. These committees examine how tax dollars are used to pay for medical care and whether actual delivery (the quality and appropriateness of medical care people receive) is accomplished.
DCPCA is also leading Medical Homes DC, a multi-year effort to expand and improve the clinical safety net.
DCPCA evaluates health policy, testifies, sponsors forums, provides information on reform to stakeholders and joins with colleagues throughout DC to build a city government that is accountable and effective.
Mission:
DCPCA is committed to serving Washington, DC's medically vulnerable residents by:
- improving access to health care in general,
- strengthening the primary care network in particular, and
- providing needed tools so that all stakeholders -- policy makers, providers and residents -- will participate fully in ending health injustice.
