Purpose of the grant:
Support for the After School, Community Education and Summer Technology Programs.
Impact:
The Computer Corner is a vibrant neighborhood meeting place where youth and adults can access state-of-the-art computer labs and get assistance from trained staff. Approximately 300 youth and adults participate in its programs and services.
- After School Program
The After School Program occurs each school day from 3:00-6:00 pm. The program, which supports and strengthens academic skills, provides instruction to approximately 50 students in grades 4-8 from neighboring DC Public Schools. Through the program, students become well-rounded, technology-savvy leaders prepared for the future.
- Community Education Program
The Community Education Program offers drop-in classes for adults two nights a week.
- Summer Technology Program
The Summer Technology Program provides a social and technology-rich environment for older youth to apply their technology skills. Students participate in collaborative, student-directed projects for neighborhood clients and also secure summer employment.
Mission:
To foster academic and career development through technology skills training for youth and adults in the community.

"Grants that Make a Difference" is a rotating
feature profiling grants awarded to 501(c)3 nonprofit
organizations in the Metropolitan Washington,
DC area ONLY (the grantmaker doesn't necessarily
have to be local). The selection of grants for
"Grants That Make a Difference" is based on criteria
such as programmatic interests, geographic focus,
and size, to ensure the broadest possible representation
of the region's nonprofit sector.

with "Grants Submission" in the subject line.
We welcome press releases in addition to, or as
a substitute for the description.
Here is what you need to include:
- Name of your funded program
- The amount of the grant (indicate if multi-year)
- Who received the grant - Your organization's name, contact person's name (if applicable), address, telephone and Web site (if applicable).
- Who gave the grant - Name of the grantmaker
- Community impact: A brief (250 words maximum) explanation of how this program is making a difference in the community.
- Your organization's mission and how it relates to this funded project.
