Purpose of the grant:
To support professional development opportunities for executive directors and other senior nonprofit staff in the Greater Washington region. This grant includes support for the Center's Executive Leadership Transition Initiative.
Impact:
The Center for Nonprofit Advancement serves as a catalyst in the Washington, DC region for advancing nonprofits by being a comprehensive resource for education and training, networking, advocacy and buying opportunities.
Most importantly, the Center helps nonprofits maximize their efforts to achieve their missions -- not waste precious effort and resources on administrative and professional challenges. When the Center is successful in strengthening nonprofits, nonprofits are successful in strengthening communities.
The Center provides training and education on how to manage and maximize resources. It serves as a resource for sharing best practices through networking and as an advocate so governments understand that nonprofits provide core services that hold communities together. The Center also provides members with the buying power they need to operate efficiently.
Membership is open to any 501(c) organizations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Founded in 1979 as the Washington Council of Agencies, the Center currently has approximately 900 organizational members.
Mission:
The mission of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement is to strengthen, promote and represent nonprofit organizations in metropolitan Washington in order to help them better meet the diverse needs of their communities.
To do this, the Center provides the region's nonprofit community with the information, tools and resources it needs to succeed, including education and training, networking, advocacy, and group buying programs.

"Grants that Make a Difference" is a rotating
feature profiling grants awarded to 501(c)3 nonprofit
organizations in the Metropolitan Washington,
DC area ONLY (the grantmaker doesn't necessarily
have to be local). The selection of grants for
"Grants That Make a Difference" is based on criteria
such as programmatic interests, geographic focus,
and size, to ensure the broadest possible representation
of the region's nonprofit sector.

with "Grants Submission" in the subject line.
We welcome press releases in addition to, or as
a substitute for the description.
Here is what you need to include:

- Who gave the grant - Name of the grantmaker
- Community impact: A brief (250 words maximum) explanation of how this program is making a difference in the community.
- Your organization's mission and how it relates to this funded project.
