Impact:
Jobs for Homeless People began in 1988 as a pilot project at the Federal City Shelter in Washington, DC. Since its inception, Jobs for Homeless People has provided services to approximately 8,000 participants. Nearly 60% of its clients find and maintain employment.

Jobs for Homeless People links clients to mainstream resources, provides life-skills and substance abuse counseling, employment assistance, job training, computer and internet access and training, education, financial literacy, housing placements and assistance, support services and emergency financial aid to families and individuals who are struggling to overcome homelessness.

While Jobs for Homeless People's counselors give the clients the tools and support they need to excel, participants design their own plans, choose their own goals, and take responsibility for their own actions. Empowering participants to take control of their own lives is one of the greatest benefits of the program.

Currently, Jobs for Homeless People's professional staff provides services at seven sites in the Washington metropolitan area, and assists over 1,000 homeless men, women, and families a year.

Mission:
Jobs for Homeless People is committed to helping the homeless transform their lives by obtaining meaningful employment, permanent housing, and breaking the cycle of homelessness.
