Resources & Collaboration

Just as our vision of health is broad, our vision of grantmaking extends to serving as a resource partner to develop and share information and promote collaboration through summits, convening groups and publications. The latter includes the Birmingham Directory resource guide; our comprehensive community health assessment called Reweaving the Social Fabric; a collaboration with the South Consortium has produced a Summer Youth Program Guide for the area. All of these publications are available to nonprofit and public organizations simply by request.

Two years ago, we gathered grantees whose services helped seniors remain safe and independent in their own homes. That gathering evolved into the South Pittsburgh Coalition for Housing Services.

Planning grants and other assistance have enabled the Hilltop Health Ministerium Consortium (Mercy's Parish Nurse and Congregational Ministries) and Voices Against Violence (Beltzhoover Citizens CDC) serve isolated seniors and provide intervention for youth struggling in the school and community. The Hilltop Community Heathcare Partnership continues to work toward the exciting creation of a vital healthcare and community center. Twice each year, we gather new grantees for a networking session.

In April 2002, we hosted 76 organizations for a Second Edition Event to promote networking, provide a seminar about strategic alliances and celebrate the use of the Birmingham Directory.

The Foundation also hosts meetings of the South Pittsburgh Coalition for Peace.
